The Pumpkin Patch

About 2 weeks ago we went to the pumpkin patch complete with a hayride! It was really fun to go and let Delia run around amongst the pumpkins. She had so much fun! Afterwards we played in the "Corn Pit" ...yes, that's right a pit fill with tons of corn kernels!! I had never seen anything like it!! It was hard to walk in and we buried Delia in it as if it were sand. She also had fun going down the slide because there wasn't a huge drop at the end, just corn kerenels! She only tried eating the corn once!! She was so good. I'm glad she enjoyed herself. It is so fun to see your kids getting older and watching their personalities Develop. I was really happy to hear they had a cute little pumpkin patch for kids to come and pick out pumpkin. I think this will quickly become a tradition!

Boy do I LOVE this Child!!

Okay, so Delia may be a little stinker, is always getting in trouble, and makes me so frustrated, but she is my everything! She is really a smart little girl. I know that most, if not all the things she is doing right now is right on track, but I thought I would posted them just for the fun of it. She is 14 months just about and I can't believe how much she really does know.

1. Get on and off the couch by herself.
2. Climb up the stairs and on everything else.
3. Gives things to mommy and daddy and is even silly ans sneaky about it.
Eample: We ask her to give us the small lego back, so she goes to hand it to us and pretends to give it to us and quickly takes her hand away. she really thinks she has outsmarted us, but we just laugh because it is sooo funny!! the other day I was trying to type on the computer and she alwyas climbs up on the couch to sit next to me. She started to put her foot on the keyboard, so I moved it. She did it again, I told her, "no, no" and again she did it, again I moved it and firmly told her NO! then out of the corner of my eye she is slowly moving her foot towards the keyboard with a big grin on her face. I look over and smile at her and she quickly moves her foot and starts giggiling LOL!! What a sneaky kid, she cracks me up! She loves to be so silly.
4. Hide and seek, when I say "where's Delia" she crouches down behind whatever she is near and waits for a second to pop out and giggle.
5. Gives Hugs and kisses.
6. Say "A-Wo" (hello) on the phone, but everything is a phone to her..she carries on the funniest conversations.
7. Reads books. She loves to turn the pages and read it out loud in her language. (this is one of my favorite things to watch her do!!)
8. Can sign EAT.
9. Can drink through straw, like a juice box, but no sipee cup..weird kid.
10. Brushes her hair like mommy.
11. Puts on daddy's shoes.
12. Puts on mommy's shirts..(of course not the right way..it's so funny to see her walking around with one of my shirts wrapped around her)
13. Can open the DVD player and take the DVD out!! She has only does this a couple of times luckily.
Well, thats all I can think of right now. But she is really a fantastic child aside from her terrors throughout the day. I love her so much and love watching her learn and grow.

Awwww...Delia Janene!! Some mommy advice Please!

I usually let Delia play with her toys in the front room while a I take a shower and she usually does fine, but today...Awww I want to pull my hair out! She got into the tissues on my night stand and one by one took them out and thrashed them. I was able to save maybe half of the pile, but the rest were shreds. She likes to shred toilet paper/tissue for some odd reason. She is always getting into things, our biggest concern...the grabage!! We have tried to tell her no! But she keeps doing it! even right after we told her no!! She grabs things like egg shells and cereal bags with crumbs in them!! We even got a lidded garbage can and nope she figured that one out all too soon. I feel like I am constantly disciplining her and saying no! and she doesn't seem to get it. Am I being to harsh or is this normal and she won't get it until she is 2. What is some advice you moms can give me to teach my child that no means no, so she won't get into things...like the garbage!

Canyonlands Visit

Here are some picture we took when we visited Canyonlands over labor day weekend. We had so much fun. Eventhough Delia will not exactly remember it, I know she enjoyed being out and that christian takes pride in sharing it with those he loves even if they are onyl 1 year old! Canyondlands is Truly a spectacular sight to see. It is such a beautiful and unique land. The only I need to do is Visit the Grand canyon and see how it compares to the beauty of Canyonlands. Enjoy!

Christian is by some wierd looking dirt. I kept looking at it wondering what exactly it was while christian was apparently telling me about it and just as I extanded myfoot to touch it, christian says: "...and you just destroyed 20 years of growth on that dirt!" Awww. I asked why he didn't stop me and he said that he didn't know I was going to stamp it with my foot! LOL. It some type of fungus growth to protect the dirt from all of mother natures elements! Interesting! It's all over in canyonlands! They do ask people not to walk on it to preserve it, but I guess a little damage by the ignorance won't hurt anything.

The yellow stuff christian is holidng is dried ephedra. He practically carried it the whole time. Delia was looking at it like, "what the heck is that!" I asked him what he planned on doing with it. He said: "oh..maybe you can use it to decorate with!" What?? I can't think of a single thing to do with it because its color is so vibrant! Well, hopefully I will think of something and then we will all be happy! ;) I love you honey, really.

This is an old cowboy camp for cattle ranching that was running from th 1800's until the 1970's when they closed cattle ranching in canyonlands in 1975. It's pretty old and they apparently was a full out spring there which is pretty dried up now and caves where we found pictograph pantings of hand prints snakes and tribe members. It was pretty cool.

At the Cowboy camp there was a little trail that led up onto large boulders to get a view of all the pastures that they used while cattle ranching. You had to take two ladders to get up there. It was really cool. Once up there christian began telling specifics about the area. It was beautiful! These pictures do not do it justice! I couldn't believe how green the pasture were in such a dry place. There were little divets in the boulders on top and it had rain earlier that morning so they were still filled with water and we decided to let Delia play in them. she really likes to do stuff that requires you to get dirty, or in this case wet!
I'm really glad christian took me here to his place of glory. It's his heaven on Earth. He had not really been in the areas we visited, just on the outskirts and deeper into canyonlands. He really wanted to take me to the place they backpack where rarely anyone goes because it is so remote, and hard, but it was getting dark and we needed an extra day. The good thing is that we are not far from it.

Our California Visit

We got back from California just a couple of days ago. We went to Christian's sister Heather's wedding. It was beautiful! Heather look Amazing. It was nice to see everyone and we had a good time. Delia was congested before we left so it was hard being on the plane for her. Then when we got there she striked a fever of 102.4!! It was really hard. Not only was her schedule messed up and she was in an unfamiliar place with strangers all around, she was not feeling well at all!! Then after the wedding she broke out in a rash all over. We were trying to figure out what she had eaten or touched, but nothing came to mind. Then his mom finally figuered it out. She got her little handy illnesses book out(she runs a dare care) and found that it was Roseola. Christian got it when he was a baby. You run a really high fever for 3 days and on the third day develop a rash that looks like hives. That was it. The spots stayed for several days, but her temp was back to normal the next day and she was herself again! Delia had fun playing dress up and liked brushing her hair! She also thinks everything is a phone and will have full out convrsations to herself. It is so funny!! She also like getting into grandma's towels and was just being plain silly as you can tell with some of the expressions on her face. We also celbrated both of the kiddos birthdays becasue they are only 1 month apart. We got them a cake and a picture of them NOT blowing out the candles ;). Of course my child had to have a fever so yes, she is in her birthday suit(no pun intended!!) Yes, I know the picture of me is cheesey, but I was making Ian laugh and when I turned I still had the funny face and sean took my picture! I didn't think I looked that silly...Ahhh I guess that is just me. A big thanks to Amy and Hillary for letting me steal their pictures. I brought my camera, but wasn't as anal about taking pictures as I usually am. I guess I was more worried about a certain little girl :) We had a great time, but glad we are home!
